The Society:
- encourages collaboration between historians and others interested in history
- organizes conferences and offers public lectures
- provides educational activities and assistance in research projects to its members
- promotes research in Slovene history, particularly the history of Celje and its surroundings
- promotes new scholarship in the theory of history and sociology
- collaborates with teachers of history and offers assistance in teaching history and other related subjects
- actively supports collecting, preserving and promoting cultural heritage
- publishes materials about the protection of cultural heritage
- cooperates with The Historical Association of Slovenia and other affiliated associations in Slovenia and abroad
- publishes a semiannual journal (
/ History for Everyone) - supports book series
in which historians from the younger generation can publish works that either deal with the history of Celje or conceptually follow recent trends in the Slovene social sciences
